The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology through the Teacher Education Support Project (TESP) established the Mathematics Center of Tanzania (MCT) in 2019. The establishment of MCT aimed at improving mathematics teaching and learning in teacher colleges in Tanzania. Thus, raise the performance of mathematics in the teacher colleges. This action plan l is for the operation of the Mathematics Center of Tanzania for the period of one year. It has been developed from the three years strategic plan of the Morogoro Teachers’ College. The action plan was prepared by members of the mathematics department of Morogoro Teachers’ College as host implementers of the activities of the center. This will facilitate the implementation of the center’s activities in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics and improving learners’ performance
a) Plan and facilitate online professional learning programs to mathematics educators in all teacher colleges.
b) Design mathematics instructional materials that can enable teachers and teacher educators to effectively improve mathematics instructions
c) Establish and maintain partnerships with teacher colleges (TCs), schools, local and international institutions, and government and non-government organizations that work in improving mathematics teaching and learning.
d) Conduct educational research on mathematics education to inform classroom practices, professional development programs, and policies.
e) Conduct follow-up activities of mathematics professional learning sessions conducted in Butimba and Tabora teachers’ colleges in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
Support mathematics teacher educators to create/innovate teaching and learning resources for teaching and learning mathematics in their colleges
